Marty served in the US Army from 1965–1971, where he achieved the the rank of Spec/5 and held MOS 05G-20 (Communications Security Monitor) and MOS 98C (SIGINT Analyst). He was deployed to Vietnam. 

 

Born in San Francisco in 1946, he held a handful of civilian occupations, including vehicle mechanic, NC machine repairman, and US-certified vibration analysis technician. Now retired, he's also a former skydiver and pilot.

 

He joined VFW in 2014.
